Bearcats Win Free Relay and Olmedo Wins 50 and 100-yard Free vs Linfield

McMinnville, Ore. - Kevin Olmedo swam to victory in both the 50-yard and 100-yard Freestyle races and the team of Cole Lindberg, Paul Keith, Lucas Cardenas, and Ka'olapa Masuko won the 400-yard Freestyle Relay in the Bearcats' dual meet at Linfield

Olmedo won the 50-yard Freestyle in a time of 22.63 and was followed closely by teammate Cole Lindberg in second place with a time of 22.81.  Fellow Bearcat Holden Schepel took fourth place in the event.  Olmedo won the 100-yard Freestyle by more than two seconds over the second-place Linfield swimmer with Willamette's Augie Meier taking fourth.

Ethan Davies and Nicholas Moore continued their strong seasons with several top finishes on the afternoon.  Davies took third place in the 1650-yard Freestyle, second in the 200-yard Individual Medley, and fourth in the 500-yard Free.  In addition to being part of the second-place relay team in the 400-yard IM Relay, Moore took third in the 200-yard Freestyle and second in the 200-yard Backstroke.

The members of the winning 400 Free Relay team also put in strong individual efforts.  Masuko raced to second place in the 200-yard Breaststroke, Cardenas took third place in the 200-yard Butterfly, and Keith placed fourth in the 200-yard Freestyle and fifth in the 500-yard Free.

This was the final meet of the regular season for Willamette.  Their next competition will be the Northwest Conference Championships in Federal Way, Washington, from February 13-16.
