Senior will Compete at Ojai Valley Tournament this Weekend
SALEM, ORE. -- Joshua Wong (Sr., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS), a senior on the Willamette University men's tennis team, has been named First Team All-Northwest Conference for the 2011-12 season in voting by the NWC head coaches.
It is the fourth consecutive season that Wong has been honored as a First Team All-NWC selection.
Wong has a 14-2 record in singles this year through Friday, April 26, all at the #1 position.
In addition to notching wins against the top singles player from NCAA Division I Portland State University, Wong has also defeated singles opponents from nationally-ranked Division III opponents University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Middlebury College this year.
He finished 10-1 against NWC competition this spring. He owns a career record of 48-20 in spring singles matches, including 37-11 against NWC opponents.
Additionally, Wong earned a 10-5 record at #1 doubles while paired with Sam Wexman (Fr., Tiburon, CA/Tamsical HS).
In the fall of 2012, Wong advanced to the singles final of the USTA/ITA Northwest Small College Championships. In 2010, he reached the Round of 16 in singles and the quarterfinals in doubles, and reached the quarterfinals in singles and the Round of 16 in doubles in 2009.
At the end of the 2011-12 season, Wong advanced to the Round of 32 at the Ojai Valley Tournament. In 2009-10 , he advanced to the Round of 16. He will be competing at Ojai Valley Tournament once again this week.
