Kabacy Prevails at #1 Singles over L&C's Peev, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 10-8

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Willamette University's Andrew Kabacy (Jr., Vancouver, WA/Skyview HS), competing in his hometown on Sunday, March 28, defeated Kristian Peev of Lewis & Clark College at #1 singles in a super tie-breaker played instead of a third set. Kabacy dropped the first set in a regular tie-breaker before rallying for the victory, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 10-8. Lewis & Clark won the overall dual match, 8-1, at Club Green Meadows.

The Pioneers improved to 5-3 on the season, 3-1 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 0-6 overall, 0-4 in the NWC.

At #2 singles, Riley Vickers of L&C outlasted Gene Perle-Jones (Sr., Eugene, OR/North Eugene HS) in two competitive sets, 6-3, 6-4. The #4 singles match went to a super tie-breaker, with Daniel Lane from Lewis & Clark edging out Luke Hiserman (Sr., Monterey, CA/Pacific Grove HS) of WU, 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 10-2. Atticus Pallock won for the Pioneers at #6 singles against Jordan Megiveron (So., Edmonds, WA/Edmonds-Woodway HS), 6-2, 6-4. Also winning in singles for L&C were Shane Lynette at #3 and Miles Stone at #5.

The Pioneers won all three doubles matches. In the #1 match, Lynette and Ramez Attia downed Kabacy and Perle-Jones, 8-3.

Willamette will play a pair of matches at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, on Saturday, April 3. The first match is set to begin at 11 a.m. (PDT) with the second match scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
