Bruins Defeat Bearcats 9-0 in Men's Tennis

SALEM, Ore. -- George Fox University downed Willamette University, 9-0, in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Saturday, April 10 at the WU Tennis Courts. The Bruins improved to 5-4 overall and to 5-0 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 0-9 on the season, 0-6 in the NWC.

Willamette's #1 doubles team of Andrew Kapacy (Jr., Vancouver, WA/Skyview HS) and Gene Perle-Jones (Sr., Eugene, OR/North Eugene HS) provided a strong battle against GFU's top team of Will Leach and Luke Lemaitre. Eventually, Leach and Lemaitre gained an 8-5 win. At #2 doubles, the Bruins received a victory from Vahag Pashayan and Camden Camacho, who defeated Quentin Nigbur (Jr., Vancouver, WA/Skyview HS) and Andrew Kropp (So., Bend, OR/Summit HS) of WU, 8-2. Hunter Fujimori and Sam Watt of GFU won #3 doubles over Luke Hiserman (Sr., Monterey, CA/Pacific Grove HS) and Jordan Megiveron (So., Edmonds, WA/Edmonds-Woodway HS), 8-2.

The Bruins won all six singles matches to complete the overall win. The teams will play each other again on Sunday, April 10. Match time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in Newberg, Oregon.
