Kabacy Earns Second Team All-NWC Honors in Men's Tennis

SALEM, Ore. -- Andrew Kabacy (Jr., Vancouver, WA/Skyview HS) has been chosen Second Team All-Northwest Conference in men's tennis as the result of voting by the NWC head coaches. Kabacy played #1 singles for the Bearcats in every match this season. He played #1 doubles in 12 matches and #2 doubles in one match.

A total of 17 players were selected for the 2021 All-NWC Men's Tennis Team, with eight athletes on the First Team and nine athletes chosen for the Second Team.

Will Leach of George Fox University was named NWC Men's Tennis Player of the Year and repeated as a First Team All-NWC selection after receiving the honor in 2019 (no All-NWC team in 2020). Vahag Pashayan from George Fox was chosen NWC Men's Tennis Freshman of the Year. Pacific University Head Coach Pete Yellico was voted NWC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.

Second Team All-Northwest Conference

Andrew Kabacy (Jr., Vancouver, WA/Skyview HS)

Andrew Gabacy (Sr.) received Second Team All-NWC recognition for the first time. He played in all 13 matches at #1 singles and achieved a 5-6 record. He also competed in 13 doubles matches, including nine matches while paired with Gene Perle-Jones (Sr., Eugene, OR/North Eugene HS) at the #1 doubles position. Kabacy earned important singles wins against Andreas Immergluck-Mueller of Whitman College on March 6, versus Adam Schutter of Whitman on March 7, and against Kristian Peev of Lewis & Clark College on March 28.

During the 2019-20 season, which was shortened by COVID-19, Kabacy achieved a 5-0 singles record. He owns a career record of 17-16 in singles during dual meets. He has played in 32 doubles matches.

"It's a testament to how much the coaches in our conference respect Andrew's game," Willamette Director of Tennis and Head Men's Tennis Coach Rick Wood said. "We all expect big wins and a possible ITA Regional championship for him in these next three years."
