Bearcats Play Non-Conference Match at Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Willamette University men's tennis team played Lewis & Clark College in a non-conference match on Sunday, Feb. 27 at the LC Tennis Dome. Lewis & Clark won the match, 9-0, as the Pioneers improved to 2-1. Willamette fell to 0-2 on the season.

In doubles, the Pioneers won the top match, as Kristian Peev and Logan Hausler defeated Willamette's team of Andrew Kropp (Jr., Bend, OR/Summit HS) and Quentin Nigbur (Jr., Newberg, OR/Newberg HS), 8-3. L&C also won #3 doubles by an 8-3 margin, with Miles Stone and Bennett Gazor outscored Trey Allen (Fy., Tucson, AZ/BASIS Tucson North HS) and Douglas Ii (So., Kealakekua, HI/Konawaena HS). Matt Chio and Alberto Dos Santos of L&C won #2 doubles.

At #1 singles, Peev downed Kropp in straight sets, but the match opened with a highly competitive first set. Peev edged Kropp, 6-4, and then won the second set for L&C, 6-0. Other winners in singles for L&C were Hausler at #2, Chio at #3, Stone at #4, Gazor at #5, and Pallock at #6.

Willamette will open Northwest Conference action by hosting Pacific University on Sunday, March 6. Match time is set for 11 a.m. (PST).
