Gibson and Snodgrass Win Two Events in Men's Track Sweep at SWOCC

Coos Bay, Ore. - Men's Track and field opened their season with a dual meet at Southwestern Oregon Community College and came away with wins across each event.  Austin Snodgrass won both the shot put and discus, while Finn Gibson won the high jump and was part of the winning team in the 4x400m relay.

Other track event winners on the day included Marcus Nalls in the 100m, Adam Lewis in the 800m, William Hennum in the 1500m, and Matthew Nivala in the 110m hurdles. In the 4x400m relay, Gibson, Cole Beneviti, Dustin Harzmann, and Clate Harden took first place in a time of 3:34.97.

Hennum took 2nd place in the 800m, followed closely by Sage Soto and Jay Chew.  The quartet shared the top spots in the 1500m, but the order after Hennum was Chew, Lewis, and Soto.  Mason Williams and Jonas Cherry finished 2-3 in the 110m hurdles, and Cahlil Hooper took third in the 100m in a personal best time of 11.59.

In field events, in addition to the wins by Snodgrass and Gibson, Steeley Mucken took first place in the long jump, and Roan Bashioum won the hammer throw.  Peyton Swan took 3rd in the shotput and 4th in the hammer, while Parker Hisey placed 3rd in the hammer and 4th in the discus.  Kaleb McArthur was right behind Mucken in the long jump, taking second with a distance of 6.21m, and also raced to 5th place in the 100m.

Men's Track and Field returns to action on Saturday, March 1st, when they host the Willamette Invitational. The event will begin at 11:00 a.m.
