Hennum and White Win Events and Bearcats Earn Four 2nds in Men's T&F

Newberg and Portland, Ore. - Willamette Men's Track & Field competed at two different meets on Saturday and came away with some top performances.  The throwers traveled to George Fox University for the Rich Allen Classic, while the runners and jumpers competed at the Electric Forest Open hosted by Lewis & Clark College.

At the Rich Allen Classic, Roan Bashioum and Austin Snodgrass led the way for the Bearcats, each taking one second and one fifth-place finish.  Bashioum placed second in the Discus and fifth in the Hammer Throw, while Snodgrass took second in the Shot Put and fifth in the Discus.  Parker Hisey and Eli Mola also competed in both the Discus and Hammer, and Judah Ali'ifua placed 14th in the Javelin with a throw of 44.75m.

Willamette won two events at Lewis & Clark, with William Hennum winning the 3000m Steeplechase and Niko White placing first in the Long Jump.   Kaleb McArthur had a strong day in the jumps, finishing second in the Triple Jump and taking third in the Long Jump, while also finishing 14th in the 100m.  Matthew Nivala was the leader for the Bearcats in both the 100m and the 110m Hurdles, placing 4th in the hurdles and 8th in the 100m.  

Other top six finishers for Willamette were Adam Lewis (2nd) in the Steeplechase; Elijah Jones (2nd) and Isaiah Martushev (3rd) in the Pole Vault; Cole Beneventi (4th) in the 400m; Steeley Mucken (4th) in the Discus; Gibson Hanowell (5th) in the Long Jump; Myles Crandall (6th) in the 200m; John Cherry (6th) in the 400m Hurdles; and Liam Bergevin (6th) in the 800m.

Track & Field returns to competition on Saturday, March 15th, when they travel to Eugene, Oregon, to participate in a meet hosted by Lane Community College.
