
Salem, Ore. - Willamette Men's Track & Field walked away with four first place finishes at the annual Willamette Track & Field Invitational on Saturday. William Hennum won the 3000m Steeplechase, Matthew Nivala took first in the 110m High Hurdles, Niko White won the Long Jump, and Kaleb McArthur placed first in the Triple Jump.
The Bearcats had several other top finishes on the track during the event. Following behind Hennum in the Steeplechase, Adam Lewis finished second in a time of 10:04. Also finishing second was the 4x100m Relay team of Cahlil Hooper, Cole Beneventi, Myles Crandall, and Marcus Nalls.
Third place finishers for Willamette were Liam Bergevin in the 800m Run, Jay Chew in the 5000 meters, and Mason Williams in the 400m Hurdles. Williams took fourth place in the 110m Hurdles, followed closely by John Cherry, who also finished just behind Williams in the 400m Hurdles. In the 400m Run, the Bearcats took fourth, fifth, and sixth by Crandall, Dustin Harzmann, and Beneventi, respectively.
In the field events, McArthur paired his win in the Triple Jump with a second-place finish behind White. White took first with a jump of 6.64 meters, only a fraction ahead of McArthur at 6.63 meters. Austin Snodgrass had another strong day with the throwing events, taking second in the Shot Put and third in the Discus. Also in the throws, Roan Bashioum finished second in the Hammer Throw and Judah Ali'ifua placed third in the Javelin. In the Pole Vault, Elijah Jones finished third, followed by teammate Isaiah Martushev in fourth.
Willamette's next meet will take place at Linfield University on Saturday, April 5th.
