Mucken Wins Javelin, White and McArthur Top-Four in Long Jump at WOU

Monmouth, Ore. - Steeley Mucken won the Javelin for the second meet in a row and Niko White and Kaleb McArthur continued their strong performances in the Long Jump as Willamette recorded a series of top finishes at the John Knight Twilight this weekend.

Mason Williams led the Bearcats on the track with a fifth-place finish in the 400m Hurdles.  Cole Beneventi earned a couple of 10th-place finishes in the 200m and 400m races.  Beneventi's time of 22.67 in the 200-meter race put him just ahead of teammate Marcus Nalls, who ran a personal best 22.92 to take 13th.  In the 400 meters, Beneventi was just ahead of teammates Finn Gibson and Dustin Harzmann, who finished in 13th and 14th, respectively.  

In other races, Jay Chew ran a career-best 15:30.91 in the 5000m, and Adam Lewis led the Bearcats with a season-best run in the 1500 meters.  Liam Bergevin was the top runner for Willamette in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:59.04 and was followed by a season-best run from William Hennum and a personal best run from Sage Soto.

In the field events, White took 2nd in the Long Jump with McArthur finishing fourth, as a handful of Bearcats with top ten finishes.  Austin Snodgrass placed 6th in the Shot Put with a career-best throw of 14.96 and Elijah Jones took 7th in the Pole Vault by clearing a height of 4.20 meters.  

Snodgrass finished twelfth overall in the Discus and thirteenth in the Hammer Throw, following teammate Roan Bashioum who placed 10th in the Hammer with a throw of 46.33m.

Willamette's next meet will be the Northwest Conference Championship on Saturday, March 26th, and Sunday, March 27th.  The two-day event will be hosted by Lewis & Clark College.
