SALEM, ORE. -- Two members of the Willamette University softball team were recognized as 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-West Region. Sophomore Jessica Barry (OF, Cupertino, CA/Monte Vista HS) was named to the Second Team and Mica Romero (So., SS, Woodland, CA/Woodland Christian HS) earned Third Team honors.
In her first season with Willamette, Barry led the team in batting average after hitting .411. She scored 33 runs and accumulated 53 hits (both team highs).
Barry was also a constant threat on the bases, finishing the season 16 of 18 on stolen base attempts. She earned First Team All-NWC honors.
Romero hit .355 this season and earned a .645 slugging percentage. She has now hit .366 in her career at Willamette, while earning a .605 career slugging percentage. This season, she led the team in slugging percentage, on-base percentage, RBIs, doubles, home runs, total bases, walks and sacrifice flies.
Romero broke the single season records for walks (32) and doubles (17). She has been named First Team All-NWC in each of her two seasons at WU.
The Bearcats finished the regular season at 28-12 overall and 20-8 in the NWC. Willamette placed second in the conference for the second season in a row.
