Compton Named NWC Softball Pitcher of the Week

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette University's Bri Compton (Jr., P, Kalispell, MT/Wenatchee Valley CC) has been named Northwest Conference Softball Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance in Willamette's 9-0 victory over Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday, April 3. The Bearcats won the game on the run rule in five innings.

Compton pitched shutout ball for all five innings en route to her ninth victory of the season. During the game, she earned a 0.00 ERA and gave up only one hit, as he held the Lutes to a .059 batting average. With the win, Compton climbed to 9-0 overall.

The junior transfer has pitched six complete games this season. She has struck out 45 batters and has a 2.45 ERA. Opponents are batting .245 against Compton.

Compton has been effective at the plate as well, leading the team with a .390 batting average. She has accumulated eight extra base hits and a .558 slugging percentage.

Willamette softball will face George Fox University at home on Saturday, April 10. The double header is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. (PDT). Fox is currently 2-9 in the NWC and in seventh place. Willamette is 11-2 in the NWC and sits alone in second place.

Bri Compton improved to 9-0 on the season with a shutout win against Pacific Lutheran University on April 3.
