TACOMA, Wash. -- Erica Gott and Jessica Gott each pitched a complete game for University of Puget as the Loggers swept a doubleheader from Willamette University, 7-4 and 4-2, on Monday, April 9 at Logger Field. Jessica Gott threw a three-hitter in the second game after Erica Gott limited Willamette to six hits in the first game. Puget Sound moved to 9-22-1 on the season, including 7-15 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette slipped to 5-22 overall, 5-15 in the NWC.

Jocelyn Glasgo (So., P/OF, Rochester, WA/Tumwater HS) of Willamette belted a double in the first game and smacked a home run in the second game. She leads the Bearcats with a .406 batting average this season.

Loggers Score Six Unearned Runs in First Game

Puget Sound used three Willamette errors to help the Loggers score six unearned runs on their way to a 7-4 win in the opener. Glasgo, who pitched the first five innings, gave up just five hits, but the Bearcats trailed 7-2 when she left the game.

The first run of the afternoon was scored by Amber Popovich of Puget Sound in the first inning. She reached first base on a fielder's choice and eventually scored two batters later on a single up the middle by Erica Gott. The Loggers added an unearned run in the second. Abby Brondos went to first on an error and later crossed the plate on a single by Popovich.

Willamette tied the score at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the third inning. With one out, Emily Bishop (Jr., OF, Maple Valley, WA/Tahoma HS/Pierce College) hit an infield single and Breianna Mcleod (Fr., SS/UT, Kailua Kona, HI/West Hawaii Explorations Acad.) walked. Bailey Hillmick (Fr., DP/UT, Athena, OR/Weston-McEween HS) also walked. Glasgo doubled to right field to drive in Bishop and Mcleod.

Singles by Kea Gier (So., 3B, Kaneohe, HI/Iolani School) and Olivia Scott (So., C, San Francisco, CA/Lowell HS) with one out in the top of the fourth put two runners on base for WU. A ground out by Kaitlin Manker advanced the runners to second and third. Both runners were left on the base after Erica Gott forced Bishop to ground out.

The Loggers broke the tie with two runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth. In the fourth, Jessica Gott hit into an error to drive in one run and the other run scored on a single by Erica Gott. In the fifth, Mckenna Johnson scored when Webster reached base on an error. Brondos scored on a passed ball and Webster crossed the plate on a single by Popovich.

Willamette scored twice in the seventh inning, but couldn't complete the rally. Glasgo brought in one run on a fielder's choice and Mcleod scored the second run on a double-steal.

Popovich was 2 for 3 with two runs, a walk and two RBIs for the Loggers. Erica Gott went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Bishop finished 2 of 3 with two runs scored for Willamette. Mcleod scored twice and Glasgo drove in three runs.

Puget Sound Rallied from 2-0 Deficit in Second Game

In the second game, Willamette scored two runs in the top of the first and Puget Sound scored once in the bottom of the inning. The Bearcats maintained a 2-1 advantage until the Loggers plated three runs in the fourth.

Willamette struck quickly to open the game. Bishop blasted a leadoff double to center field. After Hillmick popped out to the circle, Glasgo pounded a home run over the right field fence. Sofia Magnani (So., P/OF, Belmont, CA/Notre Dame HS) singled for the third hit of the inning. In the bottom of the first, Mackensie Pearlstein scored on a bases-loaded walk issued to Noelle Kerr. Even so, the Loggers ended the inning with three runners left on base.

Pearlston doubled to center for Puget Sound with one out in the fourth. With two outs, Jessica Gott walked, and then Erica Gott hit an RBI double to center. Kerr followed with a two-run single to right. Marissa Oda flied out to end the threat.

Jessica Gott held Willmette without a hit after the first inning. Glasgo's two-run homer was her second home run of the season.

Pearlstein was 3 of 4 with a double for the Logges. Kerr went 1 for 2 and drove in three of Puget Sound's four runs.
