SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University student-athletes Jocelyn Glasgo (Jr., RHP/OF, Rochester, WA/Tumwater HS) and Payten Healy (Fr., SS, Crescent City, CA/Del Norte HS), have been chosen Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference for the 2019 season as selected by the NWC head coaches. Glasgo earned Honorable Mention status as a utility player at pitcher and outfielder. Healy received Honorable Mention recognition as a shortstop.
A total of 45 student-athletes were included on the 2019 All-Northwest Conference Softball Team. Fourteen players were named First Team All-NWC, with 14 players on the Second Team, and 17 players on the Honorable Mention list. Pacific Lutheran University first baseman Kathryn Hatlen was selected NWC Player of the Year. Shelby Saylors from Linfield College and Drea Schwaier-Wolf from Whitworth University were named NWC Co-Pitchers of the Year. Schwaier-Wolf was chosen NWC Freshman of the Year. Head Coach Jackson Vaughan of Linfield College was voted NWC Coach of the Year.
Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference
Jocelyn Glasgo (Jr., RHP/OF) received All-NWC recognition for the third consecutive season. Prior to being named Honorable Mention All-NWC this spring, she was chosen First Team All-NWC in 2018 and was Second Team All-NWC in 2017.
This year, Glasgo hit .315 while leading the team with 37 games played and 35 starts. She was first on the team with 27 runs, 19 stolen bases (22 attempts), 14 hit by pitches, a .596 slugging percentage and a .487 on-base percentage. She also ranked first with five homers, was tied for first with two triples, and was tied for second with six doubles. She was second on the offensive chart with 28 hits, 89 at bats, 18 RBIs and 16 walks. She registered a hit in the each of the seven games of the season, while hitting .500 in those games (8 of 16).
As a pitcher, she led the Bearcats this season with 27 appearances and four complete games. She ranked second with 14 starts in the circle. She pitched 86 2/3 innings and recorded 48 strikeouts. She was named NWC Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week on April 16 after earning a 2-0 record and one save, as the Bearcats swept a four-game series against University of Puget Sound.
Glasgo owns a .358 career batting average with 91 games played and 85 starts. She has earned 81 hits in 226 at bats, scored 50 runs and recorded 49 RBIs. She has pounded 14 doubles, seven triples and nine homers. She is 37 of 41 on stolen bases and has walked 32 times. She has a .602 slugging percentage to go along with a .482 carer on-base percentage.
Payten Healy (Fr., SS) was named Honorable Mention All-NWC after an outstanding freshman season this year. She batted .312 while leading the team with 29 hits and 93 at bats. She also led the team with nine doubles. She ranked second on the team with 19 runs, tied for second with four homers, and was third with 18 RBIs and 12 walks. She was 14 for 14 on stolen bases. On defense, the led the Bearcats with 86 assists.
Healy put together a hitting streak of eight games from April 6 through April 14. She recorded two or more hits six times this spring, including three hits in each of three games during her hitting streak. She stole four bases in one game against Pacific Lutheran University.
At shortstop, Healy achieved a single-game high of six assists against Pacific University on March 3 and also contributed six assists against Lewis & Clark College on March 16. She registered three or more assists in one game 16 times.
