SALEM, Ore. -- The Northwest Conference softball doubleheader between Willamette University and Whitworth University scheduled for Sunday, April 2 at the Stayton High School Field, was suspended in the top of the first inning of the opening game due to the weather. Whitworth was leading 3-0 with two outs in the top of the first when a downpour forced the action to stop. With a continued threat of significant rainfall in the forecast for Sunday, the doubleheader was not completed.

The doubleheader will be completed on Monday, April 3 at the WU Softball Field. Game time for the continuation of the first game is set for 11 a.m. (PDT), with the second game to start about 30 minutes after the first game ends.

Willamette entered Sunday's games with a 13-15 overall record and an 8-10 mark in the NWC. Whitworth began the day with a 16-10 record, including 8-6 in the NWC.
