Gniotczynski Hired as Assistant Swimming Coach

SALEM, ORE. -- Willamette has hired Guy Gniotczynski as assistant mens and womens swimming coach. He will begin working with the Bearcats during the 2010-11 season.

Gniotczynski spent the last two years as a graduate assistant coach for the swimming teams at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisc. He also was the coordinator for the National Swimmer of the Week awards sponsored by CollegeSwimming.com. Prior to coaching at Carthage, Gniotczynski was the assistant swim coach at the Schroeder YMCA in Brown Deer, Wisc. from 2006 through 2008.

At Willamette, he will assist Head Coach Leslie Shevlin in all aspects of the swimming program. His duties will include recruiting, management of home meets, assisting with swim training, and strength and conditioning.

"Guy will be a great asset to Willamette Aquatics, Shevlin said. "His experience in collegiate coaching, combined with his motivation to get the job done, will help take Willamette University swimming to the next level."

In addition to coaching at Willamette, Gniotczynski will help with the Willamette Swim School and Swim Camps. He also will be the Senior Prep coach (ages 11-14) for the Bearcat Swim Club.

Gniotczynski received a bachelors degree in Biology from Carroll College (Wisc.) in 2003. He was a four-year letterman on the mens swimming team at Carroll. He earned a Masters in Education from Carthage in 2010.
