SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University guard Kylie Towry (Jr./So., Medford, OR/South Medford HS) has been named Second Team All-Northwest Conference for the 2015-16 season in voting by the NWC head coaches. Towry led the NWC with 64 three-pointers made, was third in 3-point percentage at 40.3%, and ranked seventh in scoring with 13.5 points per game.

"Kylie was absolutely vital in the success we had this season and being recognized among the top talent in the conference is a well deserved honor for her," Willamette Head Coach Peg Swadener said.

A total of 16 players were recognized for their achievements by being chosen for the 2016 All-NWC Women's Basketball Team. Five players were chosen for the First Team, with five players on the Second Team and six players receiving honorable mention.

Emily Sheldon from University of Puget Sound was selected as the NWC Women's Basketball Player of the Year. UPS Head Coach Loree Payne was named NWC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.

Towry's 64 three-pointers rank third on Willamette's single season list. She is fifth all-time at WU with 154 career 3-point baskets. The Willamette record is held by Alex Zennan ('11), who made 174 three-point shots between 2007-08 and 2010-11.

This season, Towry reached double digits in scoring 20 times in 25 games played. She started every game for the Bearcats. On the NCAA Division III national statistics, Towry ranked 29th in 3-point shooting percentage (40.3%), 36th in 3-pointers made, and 44th in 3-pointers made per game (2.56).

"I'm really proud of Kylie and what she has accomplished this past season," Swadener commented. "She's always been a fantastic shooter, but this year she did a great job elevating the other aspects of her game. She worked really hard on becoming a threat off the dribble and by the end of the season was doing an amazing job creating scoring opportunities not only for herself, but for her teammates as well.

Willamette finished the year with a 12-13 overall record. It was the Bearcats' best record since going 11-14 in 2001-02.

As a team, the Bearcats ranked sixth in NCAA Division III in 3-point field goal percentage at 36.8%, not far behind the national leader, Ohio Wesleyan University, which shot 38.2% from 3-point range. The Bearcats ranked 25th in 3-pointers made per game (7.2), were 26th in total 3-pointers made (181), and finished 30th in overall field goal percentage at 42.7%.

Towry completed the year with 670 career points, including 338 points this season. She has recorded 243 rebounds to go with 127 assists and 58 steals. During her career, she has shot 40.2% overall and 39.9% from 3-point range. Towry has played in 58 games with 58 starts.
