Towry is Selected Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference

SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University senior guard Kylie Towry (Medford, OR/South Medford HS)  has been chosen Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference for the 2016-17 season in voting by the NWC head coaches.

A total of 16 players were recognized for their achievements by being named to the 2017 All-NWC Women's Basketball Team. Six players were chosen for the First Team, with five players on the Second Team and five players receiving honorable mention.

Willamette finished the year with a 12-13 overall record and a 5-11 mark in the NWC. The Bearcats achieved a 9-5 record at Cone Field House and went 7-2 in non-conference play.

Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference

Kylie Towry (Sr., G) was named to the All-NWC Women's Basketball Team for the second year in a row. She was chosen Second Team All-NWC in 2015-16.

Towry ranked second in the NWC this year with 65 three-point baskets and 45.8% accuracy on 3-point shots. She led Willamette in scoring with 11.8 points per game and in steals with 1.5 per game. She was second on the team with 2.5 assists per contest.

"We are so proud of everything Kylie has accomplished during her career at Willamette," Head Coach Peg Swadener said. "As the best shooter in program history, and one of the best in the country, she has been instrumental in the development of this program. All success we had this year was in large part due to her contributions both on and off the court."

Towry's 65 three-pointers rank third on Willamette's single season list. She also is second with 68 three-pointers in 2014-15 and fourth with 64 in 2015-16.

She is Willamette's all-time leader with 219 career 3-point baskets and is second all-time at 41.5% on 3-point shooting. She ranks second in career 3-point attempts with 528.

Towry averaged a solid 11.6 points per game in her career and finished ninth on the Bearcats' all-time list with 964 points. She also recorded 317 rebounds, 190 assists and 95 steals during her career.

This season, Towry reached double digits in scoring 15 times. She was ranked fourth nationally in NCAA Division III in the regular season with 45.8% shooting from 3-point range. She was 39th in the nation in 3-point field goals made (65) and was 47th in 3-point field goals made per game (2.6).

She played in a total of 83 games in her career at Willamette. She started every game for the Bearcats in each of her final three seasons and started all eight games as a freshman in 2013-14 before receiving a season-ending injury.

As a team, Willamette ranked fourth in NCAA Division III in 3-point field goal percentage during regular season play at 37.5%. The Bearcats were not far behind the national leader, Catholic University (Washington, D.C.), which shot 38.2% from 3-point range.

The Bearcats ranked 11th in 3-pointers made (211) and 13th in 3-pointers made per game (8.4). In addition, Willamette was eighth in fewest turnovers (325) and eighth in fewest turnovers per game (13.0).

Sarah Curl from Pacific University was named NWC Women's Basketball Player of the Year. University of Puget Sound Head Coach Loree Payne was chosen NWC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year. Jamie Lange from Puget Sound was selected NWC Women's Basketball Freshman of the Year.
