WU Women's Golf is Eighth after First Round of NWC Fall Classic

PORTLAND, ORE. -- Sophomore Alex Johnson (Salem, OR/Blanchet Catholic School) of Willamette shot an 87 and teammate Haylee Chung (Fr., Hilo, HI/Hilo HS) recorded a score of 90 to lead the Bearcats in the first round of the Northwest Conference Fall Classic on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Heron Lakes Golf Course. Willamette ended the day in eighth place in the team standings. Whitworth University was in first place with a score of 334.

Linfield College and George Fox University were tied for second place at 342, eight strokes behind Whitworth. The University of Puget Sound was fourth at 355, while Whitman College was fifth at 357. Pacific University held sixth place at 381, with Pacific Lutheran University in seventh at 395, Willamette in eighth at 411 and Lewis & Clark College in ninth at 425.

In addition to Johnson and Chung, other golfers for Willamette were Serena Cualoping (Fr., Manila, The Philippines/International School) and Tanya Schiller (Sr., South Bend, OR/South Bend HS).
