Willamette Finishes Third at NWC Spring Classic as Second Round is Canceled

Levy Ties for Fourth Place with a 79

BREMERTON, WASH. -- The Willamette University women's golf team earned third place at the Northwest Conference Spring Classic after the second round was canceled at the Gold Mountain Golf Course on Sunday, April 7. Results from the first round on Saturday, April 6 became the official overall scores for the tournament.

Elise Levy (Fr., Reno, NV/Bishop Manogue HS) of Willamette tied for third place in the individual standings with a 79.

George Fox University won the team title with a score of 322. Whitman College was second at 327 and Willamette followed at 344. Pacific University was fourth with a score of 370, Pacific Lutheran University was fifth at 371, Whitworth University was sixth at 373, Linfield College was seventh at 392 and the University of Puget Sound was eighth at 434.

Chelsea Bayley from Whitworth achieved medalist honors, as she led all golfers with a 75. Kelsey Morrison from George Fox finished second with a 76, while Kelly Sweeney from Whitman took third place with a 78.

Levy's 79 was matched Catelyn Webber from Whitman, as both golfers earned a share of fourth place. Abby Mann of George Fox was sixth with an 81. Whitney Jammerman from GFU and Katie Zajicek from Whitman tied for seventh place at 82.

The NWC Spring Classic counts for one-fourth of the overall NWC women's golf title. The NWC Fall Classic also counts for one-fourth, while the NWC Championship Tournament, which Willamette will host at the Oregon Golf Association (OGA) course on April 20-21, is worth one-half.

Prior to hosting the NWC Championship Tournament the Bearcats will compete at the Willamette Cup, set for April 14 at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, Ore.
