SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University will compete at the Northwest Conference Tournament in women's golf on Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18 at the Kalispel Golf and Country Club in Spokane, Washington. The NWC Tournament is the last of three tournaments used to determine the NWC Championship.

The first two tournaments -- the NWC Fall Classic and the NWC Spring Classic -- each were worth one-fourth of the title. The NWC Tournament is worth one-half of the title. George Fox University is currently in first place after winning both the Fall Classic and the Spring Classic. Whitman College is second overall, with a slim lead over Pacific Lutheran University in third.

Although the Bearcats are out of title contention, they have been improving all season and hope to improve again this weekend. Participating in the NWC Tournament will be Kiki Fierstos (Jr./So., Redmond, OR/Redmond HS), Meghan Hook (Jr./So., Sunnyvale, CA/Homestead HS), Analyssa Ruiz (Sr./So., Keizer, OR/Blanchet Catholic School) and Alexis Schwartz (Sr./So., Ontario, OR/Ontario HS). The Bearcats are set to begin Saturday's first round shortly after 2 p.m. (PDT).
