Wildcat Invitational Ends with Hook Improving into 16th place

McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Meghan Hook (Sr., Sunnyvale, CA/Homestead HS) from the Willamette University golf team improved by three strokes in the second round of the Linfield University Wildcat Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 26 to move up one spot into 16th place in the final standings. Hook, who was playing as an individual, improved from a 113 on Saturday, Sept. 25 to a score of 110 on Sunday, as she finished at 223.

Kamryn Ford of Lewis & Clark College won the individual championship with a score of 156 after carding rounds of 77 and 79 to win by 21 strokes. Georgia Lavinder from the University of Puget Sound was second at 177 (87-90), while Raegan Barr from Linfield was third at 181 (95-86). Avery Arnold of Pacific University earned fourth place at 184 (89-95). Hannah Hughes of Linfield and Lindsey Mullen from the University of Puget Sound matched scores of 191 to tie for fifth place. Hughes shot 92-99 and Mullen carded 98-93.

Sofia Lavinder of Puget Sound was seventh with a score of 193 (95-98). Caitlin Hillman from Linfield was eighth at 195 (101-94), Tori Schuller of Linfield placed ninth at 200 (104-95), and Sydnie Matsuda of Pacific claimed 10th place at 201 (97-104).

Linfield won the team championships with a 36-hole score of 762. The Wildcats carded a 388 in the first round and followed up with a 374 in the second round to win by 30 strokes. Puget Sound grabbed second place at 792 (390-402), while Lewis & Clark took third place at 804 (418-386), and Pacific was fourth at 867 (431-436).

The Willamette women's golf team will play at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic on Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10 at the Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, Oregon. The tournament will be hosted by Pacific University. The NWC Fall Classic is one of three tournaments used to determine the overall NWC team champion each year.
