Bearcats Complete Pacific Invitational in Women's Golf on Sunday

BANKS, Ore. -- Three members of the Willamette University women's golf team participated in the second round of the Pacific Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Quail Valley Golf Course. Completing the 36-hole event for the Bearcats were first-year college golfers Mallory Tolliver (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington HS), Saida Seelig (Portland, OR/Wilson HS), and Kennedy Raphelt (Canyon Country, CA) .

Tolliver, who carded a 99 in the first round on Saturday, shot a 100 in the second round to finish at 199. Seelig earned a 99 in the first round and registered a 101 in the second round for an overall score of 200. Raphelt improved by nine strokes on Sunday, reducing her score from 130 to 121.

Cindy Luo from Whitman College took first place in the individual standings at 156 (80-76). She entered the day four strokes off the pace and tied for fourth, but carded Sunday's low round with a 76. Kaila Bondawitz, the leader after the first round at 76, shot an 83 in the second round and finished second overall at 159. 

Madeline Hahn of Whitworth University grabbed third place at 161 (80-81), while Katya Kurkoski from Whitman was fourth at 162 (84-78). Emily Fisher from Pacific Lutheran University took fifth place at 163 (78-85). A total of 40 golfers competed in the tournament.

The team championship went to Whitworth with a 36-hole score of 664 (338-325). The Pirates trailed Whitman by five strokes after Saturday's 18 holes, but picked up 20 strokes on Sunday. Whitman took second place at 678 (333-345). Pacific Lutheran was third at 708 (357-351), while Linfield University placed fourth at 744 (385-359). The University of Puget Sound followed in fifth place at 803 (386-417) and Lewis & Clark College was sixth at 842 (427-415).

Pacific University did not field a complete team during the second round after carding a score of 358 in the first round. Willamette did not enter a full team.
