Srivastav and Tolliver Lower their Scores in Second Round of NWC Tournament

WOODBURN, Ore. -- Willamette University women's golfers Anushka Srivastav (Jr., Pune, India/Mahindra International School) and Mallory Tolliver (Fy., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington HS) lowered their scores from the first round to the second round, as the 2023 Northwest Conference Tournament concluded on Sunday, April 22 at the Oregon Golf Association (OGA) Golf Course. Srivastav, who shot a 97 in the first round, improved to a 94 over the second 18 holes. Tolliver, after carding a 105 on Saturday, improved to a 98 on Sunday.

Srivastav completed the NWC Tournament with a score of 191 and Tolliver shot 203. Saida Seelig (Fy., Portland, OR/Wilson HS) shot 217 for the Bearcats, including 101 in the opening round on Saturday.

Alison Takamiya of George Fox University won the individual title with a score of 2-under par 142. She shot a 72 in the first round and earned a 2-under par 70 in the second round. GFU teammates Liana Brown and Makensie Toole tied for second place with scores of 146. Brown registered rounds of 69 and 76, while Toole carded a 76 and a 69. The 3-under 69s recorded by Brown and Toole were the low rounds of the tournament.

Nikki Tabios of Pacific University finished fourth at 157 (79-79). Cindy Luo from Whitman College placed fifth with a score of 160 (83-77). Giselle Flint of George Fox and Avery Kageyama, also from GFU, tied for sixth at 162. Flint shot 81-81 and Kageyama shot 80-82. Gabby Martinez of Whitworth University was eighth at 165 (82-83) and Emily Fisher from Pacific Lutheran University was ninth at 166 (82-84). Brigitte Fenton of Whitworth and Madison Hull of PLU both with rounds of 81 and 86, tied for 10th at 167.

George Fox won the NWC Tournament team title and also claimed the overall NWC Championship. The Bruins earned a 36-hole score of 593 during the tournament, with rounds of 297 and 926. Whitworth was second at 674 (334-340) and Pacific Lutheran was third at 696 (341-355). Pacific grabbed fourth place at 698 (351-347), Linfield was fifth at 736 (369-367), and the University of Puget Sound was sixth at 769 (386-383). Willamette, Lewis & Clark College, and Whitman did not field complete teams.

The NWC Tournament is one of three events used to determine the overall Northwest Conference champion. The NWC Fall Classic is worth one-fourth of the title and the NWC Spring Classic is worth one-fourth of the title. The NWC Tournament is worth one-half of the championship.

In the final NWC standings, George Fox was in first place with a perfect score of 32 after winning all three tournaments. Whitworth University earned second place with 28 points. Pacific Lutheran was third at 21 points, Pacific was fourth at 19, Linfield finished fifth at 13, Whitman took sixth at 12, Puget Sound was seventh at 11, and Lewis & Clark placed eighth with 1 point. Willamette did not have a full team at the three NWC events.

First Team All-Conference selections were Takamiya, Toole, Brown, and Kageyama of George Fox, as well as Luo and Katya Kurkoski from Whitman. Golfers receiving Second Team All-NWC honors were Martinez and Brianna NcNelly from Whitworth, Tabios from Pacific, Flint of George Fox, and Fisher and Sara Rhodes from Pacific Lutheran.
