Srivastav Shoots 88, Moore and Seelig Shoot 89, in 2nd Round of UCSC Invite

PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. -- Anushka Srivastav (Sr., Pune, India/Mahindra International School) of Willamette University carded an 88, and teammates Roberta Moore (So., Lakewood, WA/Lakes HS/Lewis & Clark College) and Saida Seelig (So., Portland, OR/Wilson HS) each shot an 89, during the second round of the UC Santa Cruz Invitational on Sunday, March 31. Both rounds of the tournament were held on the par 72 course at the Pacific Grove Golf Links.

Moore led the Bearcats in the overall results. She shot an 85 in the first round to go with the 89 in the second round for a 36-hole score of 174. Srivastav and Seelig each shot 182. Srivastav shot 94-88 and Seelig carded 93-89. Mallory Tolliver (So., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington HS) of Willamette shot back-to-back rounds of 103.

Andrea York from the University of Redlands (Calif.) won the individual title after moving up from a tie for fifth place at the end of Saturday's opening round. On Sunday, she recorded the tournament's low round at 5-under par 67 to win with an overall score of 139. She shot even-par 72 in the first round. Katleyn Vo of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.) placed second at 4-under par 140 with scores of 3-under par 69 in the first round and 1-under par 71 in the second round. Rachel LeMay of Pomona-Pitzer finished third at 142 with rounds of 72 and 70. Alison Takamiya from George Fox University was fourth at 143 (70-73). Jessie Kong and Esther Lee, both from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps tied for fifth place at 145 after both golfers carded scores of 72 and 73.

Rachel Truong of Chapman University (Calif.) shot 146 to claim seventh place. Liana Brown of George Fox was eighth at 147 (75-72). Makensie Toole from GFU and Malis Loo of Pomona-Pitzer shared ninth place at 148, as Toole shot 72-76 and Loo carded 71-77.

Pomona-Pitzer won the team title with a score of 587. The Sagehens were in second place after the first round at 296, but improved to a 291 in the second round to win by six strokes. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps moved up from third into second place at 593 by matching Pomona-Pitzer's second round score at 291. CMS registered a score of 302 in the first round. George Fox University, which led after 36 holes at 294, shot a 302 in the second round and finished third at 596.

Redlands placed fourth in the team standings at 602 (310-292) and Chapman was fifth at 624 (317-307). Whitworth University took sixth place at 634 (325-309), while California Lutheran University was seventh at 637 (324-313) and Occidental College was eighth at 642 (324-318). The University of California, Santa Cruz followed in ninth place at 652 (332-320), while Pacific University was 10th at 665 (329-336), Drew University (N.J.) was 11th at 685 (347-338), and Willamette was 12th at 744 (375-369).

The Bearcats will compete at the Northwest Conference Spring Classic on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7 in DuPont, Washington. The 36-hole event will be hosted by Pacific Lutheran University at The Home Course.
