FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- Anabel Ohsman (So., ATT, Shohomish, WA/Glacier Peak HS) scored seven goals -- all in the first half -- as Willamette University built a 12-0 halftime lead on its way to a 16-2 victory over Pacific University in Northwest Conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday, April 20. Ohsman, who earned a school record nine goals at the University of Dallas on March 24, has scored a team-high 41 goals this season. Her seven goals in one half set a school record.

Willamette improved to 5-9 on the season, 3-6 in the NWC. Pacific dropped to 2-10 overall, 1-9 in the NWC.

The Bearcats scored five times in the first 11 minutes, starting with goals by Ohsman at 29:13 and 26:33. Ohsman's first goal was unassisted, but her second goal was set up by a pass from  Victoria Glidden (Fr., MID/DEF, Dover, NH/Phillips Exeter Academy). Miranda Piros (Fr., MID, Newberg, OR/Newberg HS) hit the net at 21:33. Just over a minute later, Alayna Newland (So., ATT, Everett, WA/Archbishop Murphy HS) tallied a goal at 20:26. Glidden completed the 5-0 run by scoring at 19:14 on an assist from Nina Hernandez (So., MID, Valencia, CA/Williams S. Hart HS).

After Glidden's goal, Ohsman took over as she scored four goals in 4:04, increasing Willamette's lead to 9-0 with 12:01 left in the half. Laura Kelly (Fr., ATT/MID, Mountain View, CA/Mountain View HS), who assisted the fourth goal in Ohsman's run, earned a goal herself on a free position shot with 8:07 on the clock. Kelly's goal gave WU a 10-0 advantage, which triggered a running clock that is stopped only for timeouts, halftime and the issuance of cards for significant fouls.

Newland and Ohsman completed the scoring in the first half. Earning goals for the Bearcats in the second half were Hernandez, Piros and Miya Konishi (So., MID/DEF, Reston, VA/South Lakes HS). Konishi earned the game's final two goals with 13:05 and 9:34 left. Pacific's goals were scored by Hannah Reulbach with 18:01 left and by Madisen Castro at the 16:25 mark, pulling the Boxers within 13-2.

Willamette amassed a 29-17 edge in total shots and a 23-10 margin in shots on goal. The Bearcats also achieved leads of 15-3 on draw controls and 17-8 on ground balls. WU converted 20 of 21 clears during the game.

The Bearcats' goalkeeper, Kara Phillips (Sr., GK, Kirkland, WA/Lake Washington HS) registered eight saves with four saves in each half. Goalie Rachel Araiza of Pacific made a total of seven saves for the Boxers.

Oshman led all players with 12 shots, including 11 shots on goal. She also contributed four draw controls and four ground balls. Piros and Emma Canchola (Fr., DEF, Oregon City OR/Oregon City HS) each gained five draw controls. Canchola and Hernandez each recorded two caused turnovers.

Willamette will play at Linfield College on Sunday, April 21. Game time in McMinnville, Oregon, is set for 1 p.m. (PDT). The match-up with Linfield will conclude a string of six consecutive road games for the Bearcats.

Anabel Ohsman put together her eighth multiple-goal game
of the season, as she scored seven times against Pacific on

a new Willamette record. When she scored a school record
nine goals in one game at University of Dallas on March 24,
