Bearcats Shutout Puget Sound 20-0, Bachiochi With 7 Goals, 5 Assists

Tacoma, Wash. - Women's Lacrosse closed out the opening week of Northwest Conference play with a 20-0 win at the University of Puget Sound to start the NWC season 3-0.  Lily Bachiochi tied her own school record with twelve total points by scoring seven goals and adding five assists.  Olivia Austin and Addie Martin split time in goal to give the Bearcats the third shutout in program history.

Shea Richardson-Pepper opened the scoring for Willamette with a goal at 13:03 of the first quarter and was followed by two goals from Sydney Davis and one from Bachiochi over the next three minutes.  The Bearcats got another goal from Bachiochi, two from Claire Kisielnicki, and one from Alex Warfel with just eighteen seconds left in the quarter to take an 8-0 lead after one quarter of play.

Kisielnicki and Bachiochi traded goals in the second period and Willamette again finished off a quarter with a late goal, this time with Richardson-Pepper scoring with only eleven seconds left to put the Bearcats up 13-0 at halftime.

The third quarter saw only one goal, another score by Richardson-Pepper with the assistance of Kisielnicki.  Davis got back involved in the scoring as the fourth quarter began and scored again late to put Willamette up 19-0.  Bachiochi closed out the scoring with another late goal, this time with an assist to Sophie Cendejas, to provide the final margin of victory.

Bachiochi's seven goals led the Bearcats, followed by Kisielnicki with five, Davis with four, and Richardson-Pepper with three.  Bachiochi also led the team in assists with five, again just ahead of Kisielnicki, who assisted three goals.  Warfel, who also had a goal and an assist, led Willamette in ground balls with four and caused turnovers with three.

Olivia Austin and Addie Martin split time in goal, with each player playing one half.  Austin saved all three shots she faced, while Martin added one save.  This was only the third shutout for Willamette in program history.  The first came in a 21-0 victory over Augsburg Unviersity during the 2022 season and the Bearcats shut out Eastern Oregon University 22-0 last season.

Willamette returns home to Sparks Field for their next game when they face the Bruins of George Fox University on Saturday, April 12th, at 1:00 pm.
