Forest Grove, Ore. - Claire Kisielnicki scored seven goals and Shea Richardson-Pepper added five as Women's Lacrosse traveled to Pacific University and defeated the Boxers 21-7. Lily Bachiochi added four goals and five assists for the Bearcats, who improved their overall record to 8-6 and conference record to 5-2. Alex Warfel set a new school record with 13 draw controls.
Pacific scored the opening goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead, but Bachiochi tied the score 1-1 with an unassisted goal with just over ten minutes left in the quarter. Kisielnicki gave the Bearcats a quick lead before the Boxers tied the score again. Kisielnicki scored again, followed by Richardson-Pepper, and Alex Warfel put Willamette up 5-3 with a goal with a minute left in the first.
Willamette extended its lead by scoring four unanswered goals to start the second period, two each scored by Kisielnicki and Richardson-Pepper. After a Boxer goal cut the lead to 9-4, Warfel and Richardson-Pepper scored again to send the Bearcats to halftime with an 11-4 lead.
The Bearcats again opened a quarter with unanswered goals, this time starting the third with five consecutive scores. Richardson-Pepper started the second half scoring, followed by two goals from Kisielnicki and one each from Catie Mohr and Bachiochi. After Pacific got two back, Kisielnicki scored again to make the score 17-6 as the teams headed to the final fifteen minutes of play. After the Boxers scored to open the fourth, Willamette ended the game with four straight goals to close out the contest with a 21-7 win.
Jay Shiflett picked up five ground balls to lead the Bearcats, followed closely by Richardson-Pepper with four. Warfel led the team with three caused turnovers, with Sydney Davis and Shiflett each causing two.
The Bearcats will close out their regular season by hosting Linfield University on Sunday, April 27th, at 1:00 pm. Before the match, Willamette will celebrate its three students playing their final home game - Lily Bachiochi, Sydney Davis, and Shea Richardson-Pepper.
