Nationally Ranked Puget Sound Downs Willamette, 4-0

TACOMA, WASH. -- Senior midfielder Christine Isabella scored three goals and earned an assist to lead the nationally ranked University of Puget Sound women's soccer team past Willamette University, 4-0, in a Northwest Conference game on Saturday, Sept. 17. UPS, ranked #21 in the D3soccer.com Top 25, improved to 3-1 on the season, 1-0 in the NWC. Willamette went to 1-4 overall, 0-1 in the NWC.

The Loggers built a 2-0 lead in the first half. Hannah Hawkins recorded the first goal from the left side of the field off a corner kick at 20:51. Isabella assisted on the play.

UPS tallied its second goal just 4:03 later on a shot by Isabella. Maddie Janssen was credited with an assist.

Midway through the second half at 67:31, Isabella increased Puget Sound's lead to 3-0, with an assist from Mikaela Freeman. Isabella completed her hat trick at 80:58 when she scored a goal off a rebound.

Puget Sound outshot Willamette, 26-4, and placed 12 shots on goal. Isabella led the way with seven total shots and six shots on target. Robin Vieira added five shots with one shot on goal.

Goalkeeper Casey Thayer received the win for the Loggers and played the first 74:30. WU goalie Nicole Price (So., Auburn, WA/Thomas Jefferson HS) earned eight saves and took the loss.

Price was one of five Bearcats who played all 90 minutes. The field players with complete games for Willamette were Andi Rowan (Jr., MF, Boise, ID/Timberline HS), Shannon Scott (Jr., D, Bellevue, WA/Sammamish HS), Paige Lancourt (so., D/MF, Eagle, ID/Eagle HS) and Stephanie Skelly (Sr., MF, Poulsbo, WA/North Kitsap HS).

WU will play at Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday, Sept. 18. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. (PDT).
