SALEM, Ore. -- Willamette University junior goalkeeper Emily Sewall (GK, Petaluma, CA/Casa Grande HS) has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts against George Fox University on Oct. 31 and Lewis & Clark College on Nov. 1.

Sewall allowed just one goal while playing nearly 194 minutes during the week. She earned a 0.46 goals against average and recorded a total of eight saves. Her work in the nets helped Willamette defeated George Fox, 2-1, and edge past Lewis & Clark, 1-0 in two overtimes.

In the win over L&C, Sewall registered seven saves -- six in the second half -- to keep the game scoreless. The Bearcats eventually won when Kelsey Walker (So., M/GK, Westerville, OH/Westerville North HS) scored on a penalty kick with 6:16 left in the second overtime. It was Sewall's eighth shutout of the season and lowered her overall goals against average to 0.84.

Willamette is 8-8-2 on the season and 8-5-1 in the NWC. The Bearcats will play their final game of the year on Sunday, Nov. 8 against University of Puget Sound. Kickoff at Sparks Field is set for 11 a.m. (PST).
