Manset Earns NWC Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week

SALEM, Ore. -- Emmy Manset (Sr., F, Ventura, CA/Foothill Technology HS) from Willamette University has been chosen as the Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts in games played during the week ending Sunday, Oct. 1. Manset scored a total of three goals in Willamette's two games.

Against Lewis & Clark College on Wed., Sept. 27, Manset recorded the first goal of the night to lead the Bearcats to a 3-1 victory over the Pioneers. At Pacific University on Sat., Sept. 30, she scored the second and third goals in a 3-0 win. The final goal was a 25-yard blast into the upper corner of the goal.

For the season, Manset leads the Bearcats and is tied for first in the NWC with five goals. She has scored 15 goals in her Willamette career, including 12 since the start of the 2016 season.

"We are excited and happy for Emmy," Willamette Head Coach Hillary Arthur said. "Already this season she has served our team well with excellent play up top and scoring game-deciding goals. She also has provided impactful leadership both on and off the field."

Willamette is now 7-2-1 on the season. The Bearcats are third in the NWC standings with a 4-2 record. So far this season, the Bearcats have scored 17 goals in 10 games, while allowing opponents just seven goals.

Up next for Willamette is an NWC game at University of Puget Sound on Saturday, Sept. 7. Game time in Tacoma, Washington, is set for 12 p.m. (PDT). The Bearcats will host George Fox University as part of Family Weekend at Sparks Field on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 12 p.m.
