Quevedo-Ramos Earns Three Saves, but Bruins Edge Bearcats, 1-0

NEWBERG, Ore. -- Willamette University women's soccer goalkeeper Grasiela Quevedo-Ramos (Sr., Salem, OR/West Salem HS) registered three save, including a spectacular save with 7:29 left in the game, but George Fox University slipped past the Bearcats, 1-0, in a Northwest Conference game on Thursday, April 8. The win lifted the Bruins to a final record of 6-2 on the season, 6-2 in the NWC. George Fox ended the season with five consecutive wins, all by 1-0 margins. Willamette ended its season at 3-5 overall, 3-5 in the NWC.

Quevedo-Ramos played the entire first half and the final 18:01 of the second half. One of her three saves was earned on a shot by Claire Wright from a free kick. The game's only goal was scored following the save when Madison Burch of GFU received the ball and shot into the net at 14:13. Quevedo-Ramos rejected a shot by Lucy Brandt at 29:49. Later, on a corner kick by the Bruins at 82:31, Quevedo-Ramos pushed a well-placed header by Daria Brandt over the crossbar. Jordan Roue (Jr., GK, San Jose, CA/Prospect HS) started the second half in goal for WU and played 26:59 without facing a shot on target.

GFU gained an 8-5 edge in total shots and held a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal. Willamette achieved a 9-5 margin n corner kicks, including 5-3 in the second half. Burch and Lucy Brandt of George Fox each provided two total shots to lead all players. Five Bearcats -- Lacey Jones (Sr., F, Portland, OR/David Douglas HS), Sydney Wilson (Jr., M, Olympia, WA/Capital HS), Caroline Adams (Sr., M, Snohomish, WA/Archbishop Murphy HS), Clara Mattison (So., M, Burlington, WA/Burlington Edison HS), and Bridget Bodor (So., F, Manitou Springs, CO/Manitou Springs HS) -- each recorded one shot.

Annalisa Klein, who played the entire game in goal for the Bruins was credited with two saves. She recorded the saves in a 29-second span on a header by Mattison at 33:40 and a shot by Bodor at 34:09.

Willamette received a corner kick at 86:12, but the Bearcats were unable to create a shot from the corner kick or during an additional possession following the play.

George Fox was called for nine fouls and Willamette was whistled for eight fouls. Maggie Choate of GFU received the game's only yellow card at 75:28.
