SALEM, Ore. – The Willamette University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday, Oct. 3, at Sparks Field. The Lutes tallied the game-winner in the 31st minute and tacked on a pair of second half goals to remain unbeaten on the season.

Ellie Reardon served a corner to the near post and Alyssa Jordan redirected a header into the net to put Pacific Lutheran on the board with just over 13 minutes to play in the first half.

First-year forward Hannah Cecil struck twice in the second half. First, she scored unassisted in the 49th minute. Later, she finished a well-developed give-and-go with Vera Panescu-Reich that set up a one-on-one with the goalkeeper for the final goal with 31 minutes remaining.

The Lutes outshot the Bearcats, 19-2, holding the hosts to just one shot in each half. Pacific Lutheran also held a 7-3 advantage in corners.

Sophomore goaltender Rachel Compton (Lake Stevens, WA/Lake Stevens HS) made five saves before leaving the game with an injury in the 58th minute. Senior Jordan Roue (San Jose, CA/Prospect HS) came on to finish and did not face any shots.

Pacific Lutheran improves to 10-0 on the year and moves to 6-0 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette slips to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the NWC. The Bearcats will travel to Lewis & Clark College on Thursday night Oct. 7 for a 6:00 p.m. (PDT) kickoff.
