Redlands, CA - Willamette Women's Soccer opened their season today with 1-0 loss to Austin College. The Bearcats outshot the 'Roos 16-5 (8-4 on goal) but were not able to get any shots past Austin goalkeeper Kenedie Lane.
Midfielder Reagan Doty led Willamette with 7 shots (4 on goal), helped out by Erin Denney and Celeste Stanziola with 2 and 5 other Bearcats with 1 shot each. Austin had five players with 1 shot each, the lone goal coming from Jetta Broquard in the 71st minute on an assist from Carisa Arallano.
Sam Borngasser and Siear Edwards split time in goal for Willamette with each facing two shots.
Willamette will end their trip to California on Sunday when they play the University of Redlands at 11:00 am.
