Walla Walla, WA - Willamette Women's Soccer lost a heart-breaking match to Whitman College as the Blues scored the deciding goal with under one minute left in the match.
The Bearcats got things started early as Nina Krassner-Cybulski scored off a double assist by Natalie Rodriguez-De La Torre and Claire Warthen and would carry that 1-0 lead into halftime.
Just over ten minutes into the second half the Blues would find the equalizer on a goal by Virginia Hunt off an assist by Katherine Sand. For the half, Whitman would outshoot Willamette 12-3 and the Blues would score the game-winning goal with 54 seconds left in the match. This time it was Hunt with the assist to Avery Cohen.
Whitman outshot the Bearcast 17-5 for the match, 9 to 3 on goal. Krassner-Cybulski led Willamette in shots with three, while Claire Warthen provided the other two. Sam Borngasser played the full 90 for Willamette and made seven saves.
Women's Soccer will continue their Eastern Washington road trip when they face Whitworth University at 2:45 pm on Sunday, October 6th. The team is on the road again midweek at Pacific and returns home to Sparks Field to face Linfield University on Sunday, October 13th.
