Forest Grove, OR - Nina Krassner-Cybulski scored in her fifth straight game, and it proved to be all the Bearcats needed as they defeated Pacific University 1-0. The win was the second consecutive shutout win for Women's Soccer, which won 3-0 at Whitworth on Sunday.
Willamette started the match with several attacks on goal with Ella Abraham and Amanda McArthur testing the Pacific goalkeeper. The Boxers had some opportunities of their own midway through the first half but could not find a way past Bearcat goalkeeper Sam Borngasser who had fours save for the match. Then, in the 39t minutes, Krasser Cybulski put Willamette ahead with an assist by Jaime Haysman Boaler.
Defense ruled the second half as the teams were only able to combine for three shots. The one shot for Willamette came close to giving Krassner-Cybulski her second goal on the day, but it glanced off the left post.
Pacific outshot Willamette 10-5 and 4-3 on goal. Krassner-Cybulski and McArthur led the Bearcats with two shots each.
After playing their last three matches on the road, Willamette returns home to Sparks Field on Sunday, October 13th, to face off against Linfield University at 2:45 pm.
