Krassner-Cybulski scores again, Haysman Boaler assists, Bearcats top Linfield 1-0

Salem, OR - Nina Krassner-Cybulski scored a goal in her sixth consecutive match and the third game-winner in a row as Willamette downed Linfield 1-0.  It was Willamette's third conference victory in a row and third straight shutout.

The match went back and forth in the first half with each side having a few good chances, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.  Willamette outshot Linfield 7-4 in the half but was only able to put one shot on goal.  Linfield had five corner kicks in the first half, but the Bearcat defense held strong and goalkeeper Sam Borngasser batted away several Wildcat crosses.

The Wildcats nearly broke through early in the second half as Amalia Tufts attacked down the right side in the 50th minute and got a shot off to the far post that an outstretched Borngasser was able to deflect and then grab to keep the match scoreless.

The Bearcats finally broke the tie in the 72nd minute on a nice connection from Ella Abraham to Jaime Haysman Boaler on the right side.  Haysman Boaler played a cross into the box and Krassner-Cybulski headed it home for the match-winner.

Willamette outshot Linfield 12-8 on the afternoon, but the Wildcats put more shots on goal by a margin of 7 to 5.  Borgasser played all 90 minutes in goal for Willamette and saved all seven Linfield shots.

Claire Warthen led the Bearcats in shots with four, followed by Ella McComas with three.  Hayman Boaler had the lone assist.

Willamette returns to action this Wednesday when they travel to Portland to take on the Pioneers of Lewis & Clark College at 7:45 pm.  They return home next Saturday and Sunday to take on the University of Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran University.  The start time for both games next weekend is 2:45 pm.
