Portland, OR - Women's Soccer registered their fourth straight shutout and third consecutive 1-0 win, this time over Lewis & Clark College, as Nina Krassner-Cybulski scored a goal in her seventh consecutive match.
The Bearcats started aggressively in the first half, firing off three shots in the opening eight minutes, with attempts by Natalie Rodriguez-De La Torre, Claire Warthen, and Ella Abraham. For the half, Willamette outshot the Pioneers 5-1, but neither team was able to score and the match went to halftime tied 0-0.
Willamette almost broke through in the 59th minute when Arianne McCullough's shot hit off the crossbar. The Bearcats continued to put pressure on the Pioneers and finally found the back of the net in the 82nd minute with the goal by Krassner-Cybulski.
Willamette outshot the Pioneers 12-6 for the match, and 5-0 on goal. Krassner-Cybulski led the Bearcats with three shots followed by Claire Warthen with two. Sam Borngasser played the full 90 minutes in goal and recorded her seventh shutout of the season.
The Bearcats return home this weekend to take on the University of Puget Sound at 2:45 pm on Saturday, October 19th, and Pacific Lutheran University at 2:45 pm on Sunday, October 20th.
