McMinnville, Ore. - Women's Soccer traveled to Linfield on Saturday for their final match of the season and came away with their second 1-1 draw of the week, the other coming this past Wednesday against Pacific University.
Neither team was able to gain an advantage in the first half, but Nina Krassner-Cybulski got the Bearcats on the scoreboard in the opening minutes of the second half off a feed from Maddee Reid. It was Krassner-Cybulski's 11th goal of the season and 10th in conference play. Her ten goals during NWC play were tied for the conference lead with Hannah Cecil of Pacific Lutheran.
The Bearcat defense stood tall for most of the rest of the match until Linfield's Sofia Pietrok broke through and tied things up with a goal in the 87th minute. It was the sixth time this season that Willamette allowed a goal in the final ten minutes of play to lose a lead or a match.
Linfield outshot Willamette 13-6 for the game and 8-3 in the second half, with each team putting three shots on goal. Six different Bearcats had one shot each on the afternoon. Sam Borngasser played the entire match in goal for Willamette and made two saves.
Willamette finished the season with an overall record of 6-7-7 and 5-6-5 in the Northwest Conference. It was the most conference wins for the Bearcats since the 2019 season when they finished 10-4-2.
