Women's Swimming Wins Two Events, 2nd Place in Eight Others, in Meet vs PLU

Salem, Ore. - For the second night in a row Women's Swimming had some good performances, but this time they came up just short in the dual meet with Pacific Lutheran, losing 114-91.

The meet got off to a great start for the Bearcats as they took the top two spots in the opening race, the 400-yard Medley Relay.  The team of Tatum Good, Anna Hornbeck, Tessa Ciatti, and Alayna Kisiday, won the race with a time of 4:20.99.

Willamette took third, fourth, and fifth places in the 800-yard Freestyle, led by Sarah Jenner in a time of 9:43.26, and then Jillian Price took first place in the 200-yard Freestyle by just .16 seconds over Emma Gassman of PLU.

The Lutes would take first place in the next eight races, but strong second and third-place swims by several Bearcats kept the meet close until the very end.  Tessa Ciatti took second place in both the 100-yard Individual Medley and the 150-yard Butterfly events.  Leah Howell finished in second place in the 50-yard Freestyle and in third for the 100-yard Freestyle, while teammate Mia Sperbeck swapped those spots, finishing third in the 50 and second in the 100.

Other second-place finishers for the Bearcats were Tatum Good in the 150-yard Backstroke, Ana Kaldy in the 400-yard Freestyle, and Anna Hornbeck in the 150-yard Breaststroke.

Both teams will travel to Eastern Washington next weekend to take on Whitworth University on Friday, November 15th, and Whitman College on Saturday, November 16th,
