Bearcats Sweep Relays, Ciatti, Hall, and Kisiday Win Individual Events

Salem, Ore. - For the second time this season, Willamette Women's Swimming earned a victory over Southwestern Oregon Community College.  The team took first place in eight events and had a number of top-three performances during the meet.  Tessa Ciatti and Alayna Kisiday led the way with four wins each.  Ciatti won three individual events and was a part of the 200-year Medley Relay, while Kisiday won two individual events and was a member of both winning relay teams.

Willamette started the meet taking first and third in the 200-yard Medley Relay.  The team of Tatum Good, Anna Hornbeck, Ciatti, and Kisiday won the event with a time of 1:54.83, with Emma Schauble, Jacqueline Hall, Lydia Schmitt, and Mia Sperbeck taking third in 2:00.00.  

In the next event, the 1000-yard Freestyle, Sonora Sandoval took second place at 11:59.47 and was followed by teammate Sarah Jenner in third at 12:15.39.  Jacqueline Hall registered Willamette's second win of the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard Freestyle, ahead of fellow Bearcat Ana Kaldy in second place.

SWOCC took first place in the 50-yard Backstroke, but Willamette took the next three places led by Good with a time of 30.51, followed by Schauble and Emma Noffsinger.  The same held true in the 50-yard Breaststroke where Hornbeck, Kate Shower, and Sofie Szigeti went 2-3-4 in the event.  Good, Schauble, and Noffsinger also repeated their 2-3-4 finish in the 50-yard Back in the 100-yard Backstroke.

Ciatti took home her first individual win in the 100-yard Butterfly and finished the individual events with a victory in the 50-yard Butterfly and the 200-yard Individual Medley.  Lydia Schmitt placed second in the 50-yard Fly, while Good and Hall each scored points for the Bearcats in the 200 IM by finishing third and fourth, respectively.  

Kisiday won her two events with times of 25.68 in the 50-yard Freestyle and 56.04 in the 100-yard Free.  Mia Sperbeck took third in the fifty and fourth in the hundred, with Schmitt taking third in the 100-yard event.

The Bearcats closed out the meet with a strong finish by the team of Kisiday, Jenner, Schmitt, and Sperbeck in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay.

The Bearcats return to the pool and Northwest Conference competition next weekend when they host Lewis & Clark College on Friday, January 24th, at 6:00 pm.  The team will celebrate Senior Day before the meet against the University of Puget Sound on Saturday, January 25th, at 11:00 am.
