ORANGE, CALIF. -- Chapman University, ranked #2 in the NCAA Division III West Region, defeated visiting Willamette University, 9-0, in women's tennis action at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Friday, March 26.

Chapman improved its record to 8-3 on the season. The Panthers are ranked #10 in the nation. Willamette ended the day at 8-6.

Natalia Agarycheva (Jr., Vancouver, WA/Prairie HS/U. of Northern Colorado) battled Elizabeth Lewis, ranked #1 in the West Region in singles, before losing 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. Agarycheva was ranked #7 entering the match and is now 11-2 on the season.

Agarycheva and Shannon Palmer (So., Salem, OR/Sprague HS) fell in #1 doubles action to Lewis and Kelley Fox. Lewis and Fox, ranked #2 in the West Region, defeated the WU team 8-6. Agarycheva and Palmer were ranked #4 in the West Region entering the match.

Alyssa Morrison (Sr., Anacortes, WA/Anacortes HS) battled hard at the #5 singles match. Morrison fell to Trippel, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7).

Jamie Slonaker (Jr., Bainbridge Island, WA/Bainbridge HS) had another long, close battle in the #6 singles match. Slonaker was defeated by Amy Logan, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6).

The Bearcats will remain in Southern California for a match on Saturday, March 27. Willamette will take on Occidental College at 10 a.m. (PDT).
