SALEM, Ore. -- Alexis Gjurasic (Fr., Olympia, WA/Capital HS) from the Willamette University women's tennis team has earned the ITA Scholar-Athlete Award for her efforts in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year.

The ITA recognized the accomplishments of 4,200 women's and men's athletes from throughout the NCAA, the NAIA and junior colleges for their academic success while also practicing and competing this past season. Scholar-Athlete status was achieved if a player was a varsity letter winner with a grade point average of at least 3.50 (4.0 scale) during the 2015-16 academic year. Athletes had to attend their current college or university for a least two semesters.

"Alexis is a very organized student-athlete," Willamette Head Coach Becky Roberts said. "She gives 100% in the classroom and on the tennis court. This is a well deserved recognition."

Willamette is a member of the Northwest Conference. The Bearcats also compete in NCAA Division III.
