Pacific Moves Past Willamette 9-0 in Women's Tennis

SALEM, Ore. -- Kaitlyn Lomartire won #1 doubles and combined with Danielle du Plooy to win #1 doubles, as she led Pacific University to a 9-0 victory over Willamette University, in Northwest Conference women's tennis action at the Courthouse Tennis Center on Sunday, March 6. Pacific improved to 2-3 on the season, 2-3 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 0-5 overall, 0-5 in the NWC.

Lomartire and du Plooy took #1 doubles, 8-0, over Mikaila Smith (So., Mill Valley, CA/Tamalpais HS) and Alexis Gjurasic (Fr., Olympia, WA/Capital HS). Chantelle Baclay and Mai Kobayashi of Pacific defeated Hannah Andres (Fr., Sammamish, WA/Skyline HS) and Noemi Cruz-Cruz (So., Galt, CA/Liberty Ranch HS) at #2 doubles, 8-2.

In the #3 doubles match, Pacific's team of Kanani Kea and Marissa Hayashi moved past Katie Adams (So., McLean, VA/American International School) and Allie DiPasquale (Fr., Seattle, WA/Seattle Academy), 8-1.

At #1 singles, Lomartire downed Smith, 6-3, in the first set, before sweeping the second set, 6-0. The #2 singles match was won by du Plooy, while Kea earned a win at #3 singles.

Hayashi easily won the firtt set against Adams at #4 singles, 6-1, but had to hold off Adams for a 6-4 victory in the second set. Carlee Rhodaback won for the Boxers at #5 singles against DiPasquale, 6-2, 6-2. Chealsey Rosebrook of Pacific defeated Cruz-Cruz of Willamette, 6-2, 6-3, at #6 singles.

Willamette will return to action on Saturday, March 12 against Whitman College. Game time at Courthouse Tennis Center is set for 11 a.m. (PST).
