Dean Falls to Whitworth's Liening in Close Match at #1 Singles

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Sarah Dean (Sr., Boise, ID/Timberline HS) of Willamette University dropped a close match to Avery Liening of Whitworth University on Saturday, May 1 during a Northwest Conference match at the Scotford Tennis Center. Liening held off Dean in the competitive top pairing, 7-5, 6-4.

The Pirates defeated the Bearcats, 9-0, to improve to 9-5 on the season, 6-2 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 0-9 overall, 1-7 in the NWC.

Also winning in singles for Whitworth were Aleah Kert at #2, Hannah Plank at #3. Lauren Ikeda at #4, Kyndal Locati at #5, and Froukje Lakerveld at #6.

In the top doubles match, Liening and Kert downed Dean and Siena Ginsburg, 8-0.

The teams will play again on Sunday in a non-conference game at the Scotford Tennis Center.
