Bearcats Fall to Whitworth in Non-Conference Women's Tennis Match

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Willamette University fell to Whitworth University in a non-conference match, 9-0, on Sunday, May 2 at the Scotford Tennis Center. Whitworth advanced its record to 10-5 overall. The Bearcats concluded the season with a 0-10 record.

At #1 singles, Aleah Kert of Whitworth defeated Sarah Dean (Sr., Boise, ID/Timberline HS) of Willamette, 6-1, 6-2. In the #2 singles match, Avery Liening won for the Pirates against Siena Ginsburg (Sr., Bend, OR/Summit HS) from Willamette, 6-3, 6-1.

The #5 singles match went to Meredith Bedford of Whitworth, who moved past Camille Gibney (Fy., La Crescenta, CA/Crescenta Valley HS) of the Bearcats, 6-2, 6-2. Other winners in singles for the Pirates were Kyndal Locati at #3, Hannah Plank at #4, and Kara Nelson at #6.

In the #1 doubles match, Aleah and Plank from Whitworth downed Dean and Ginsburg, 8-0. Liening and Froukje Lakerveld won #2 doubles for Whitworth. The Pirates' #3 doubles team of Bedford and Nelson, also gained a win.
