Portland, OR - Willamette Women's Tennis walked away from the final day of the ITA Regionals with two consolation bracket championships. Richelle Suzuki and Eva Lief won two matches on the day to win the Doubles consolation championship and Ruby Thompson won the B Draw consolation championship.
The day started with an extremely close match between the team of Suzuki and Lief against Hayley Kreps and Lauren Smith-Euben from Lewis & Clark. The match went all the way to a tie-breaker and the Bearcat duo came away with the 8-7(7) victory.
Right after competing in the doubles semifinal, Suzuki had to play in the singles semifinal against Faith Wert from Whitworth University. Wert took that match 6-0, 6-0, and Richelle had to turn her attention to the doubles final.
In the doubles final, Suzuki and Lief faced off against Paige Shinall and Kaylee Yamada from the University of Puget Sound and came away with an 8-6 win and the consolation championship.
In the other singles match for the Bearcat, Ruby Thompson won the B Draw consolation championship with a 6-1, 6-0, win over Molly Sawyer from Pacific University.
