Suzuki Plays Close Matches at #1 Doubles and Singles in Loss to George Fox

Salem, Ore. – The Willamette University women's tennis team suffered a tough 7-0 defeat against the George Fox Bruins on Saturday, March 8th, in Northwest Conference play. While the final score reflects a decisive victory for George Fox, the Bearcats fought hard in several matches, showcasing their determination despite the outcome.

The doubles matches set the tone for the day, with each Bearcat pair facing stiff competition from their Bruin counterparts. Richelle Suzuki and Eva Lief put up a strong fight in the number one doubles slot against Kalli Wiker and Riley Bobkiewicz, ultimately falling 7-5. While the other doubles teams – Sofia Spencer/Gio Horner and Ruby Thompson/Marie Tarrab – battled valiantly, they were unable to secure a win.

The singles matches proved equally challenging. Richelle Suzuki, playing against Wiker, fought hard, but the Bruin's strong performance resulted in a 6-2, 6-2 victory for George Fox. Similar stories played out across the singles lineup, with Sofia Spencer, Eva Lief, Ruby Thompson, Alicia Sola, and Grace O'Steen all facing tough opponents and ultimately falling to their George Fox rivals.
