Bearcats Fall Short in Dual Match Against Pacific in 7-0 Defeat

Forest Grove, Ore. – The Willamette Bearcats women's tennis team suffered a tough 7-0 loss to the Pacific Boxers on Saturday, a match that saw the Bearcats win multiple games across each of the Singles matches but not be able to pull out any individual matches on the day.

The Boxers took an early lead in doubles, sweeping all three matches. Alexa de Crinis and Ruby Thompson faced a tough challenge in their match against Cassidy Binder and Chloe Takahashi, ultimately falling 6-0. Richelle Suzuki and Eva Lief put up a strong fight against Stella Nishimura and Sofia Mazzola but still lost 6-3. The closest doubles match saw Sofia Spencer and Gio Horner narrowly edged out 7-6(8-6) by Mia Yamaguchi and Tiara Yeung.

In Singles, De Crinis and Suzuki faced Binder and Takahashi again, both falling in straight sets. Spencer battled valiantly against Valentina Casab-Klescova but ultimately fell to a 6-2, 6-1 defeat. Horner played well at the #4 spot but lost her match to Mazzola 6-4, 6-4.

The Bearcats return to action next weekend in their final matches of the season.  They travel to George Fox University to take on the Bruins on Saturday, April 12th, before coming home to close out the season with Senior Day against Linfield on Sunday, April 13th.
