
Coos Bay, Ore. - Women's Track and field opened its season with a dual meet at Southwestern Oregon Community College and came away with wins in each event. Tenley Grant won both the shot put and hammer, while Erica Snyder won the long jump and was part of the winning team in the 4x400m relay.
In addition to Grant and Snyder winning their field events, Olivia Jacobson took first in the discus and Whitley Stepp won the high jump. Jacobson finished second behind Grant in the hammer, while Henri Osborne finished third in the hammer and second in the discus and shotput. In the long jump, Salah Williams and Janae Howard took second and third behind Snyder while Amanda McArthur finished sixth.
The Bearcats had different winners in each individual track event during the meet, with Mashani Coleman taking first in the 100m, Katie Briggs winning the 400m, Lillian Courtnage-Dyke taking the 800m, Morgan Shaw placing first in the 1500m, and Lecia Sincere winning the 100m hurdles. Courtnage-Dyke finished right behind Shaw in the 1500m, followed closely by Zoe Heino, Anna Bikle, Grace Kosmicki, and Aven Roberts. That same group took the top six spots in the 800m as well, finishing behind Courtnage-Dyke in order of Bikle, Shaw, Heino, Kosmicki, and Roberts.
Salah Williams and Amanda McArthur finished 2-3 in the 100m on the heels of Coleman and Kenzie Lee took second place in the 400m. Lee was also part of the winning 4x400m relay team that included Snyder, Ella Thompson, and Katherine Thornton. Thornton also took second place in the hurdles, followed by Juniper Ammirati and Sage Miller in third and fourth place.
Women's Track and field returns to action on Saturday, March 1st, when they host the Willamette Invitational. The event will begin at 11:00 a.m.
